Our Story

Doug Shackelford served over 25 years of combined law enforcement experience between the North Carolina Division of Motor Vehicles Enforcement Section and the North Carolina State Highway Patrol where he ultimately retired at the rank of Captain while assigned to the Motor Carrier Enforcement Section. Prior to his retirement, he was elected President of the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance Region II and graduated from the 231st Session of the FBINA Academy.

Also, while serving as a weight enforcement officer and inspector with the North Carolina Division of Motor Vehicles Enforcement Section and the North Carolina State Highway Patrol he has conducted numerous roadside safety inspections on commercial motor vehicles. Doug also acquired his Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance instructor certification and served as an Associate Staff member for the National Training Center in Arlington Virginia. He trained other law enforcement officials in North Carolina, Virginia, Georgia, New York, Ohio, and Washington State the standardized CVSA Roadside Inspection process.

As owner of Motor Carrier Safety Analysis, Doug brings an extensive and comprehensive knowledge of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations regarding 49 CFR Parts 40, 303, 325, and 350-399 and the Hazardous Materials Regulations Parts 100 to 185 to include the CVSA “Out of Service Criteria” that pertains to both.
